Danny Elfman Gives Memorable Performance Weekend 1 at Coachella

Now when I heard that Danny Elfman was performing at Coachella, I thought it was a joke, then the speculations on what he was planning on performing were even more hilarious. My thought is that he would play a bunch of Oingo Boingo songs but then the rumors started going around that he was going to play the “Simpsons Theme Song”. Well the rumors were real and to top it all off, not only did Elfman play Oingo Boingo and the Simpson Theme Song, he did a small medley of “Nightmare Before Christmas”, Tobey Macquire era “Spiderman” compositions and even “The Batman” theme.

Of course I had to track down a video of the “Simpsons Theme” being played, and I think Elfman knew that because he was at Coachella he had to do something trippy because the video on the screen, though it may show the main title sequence, he tossed in trippy, psychedelic imagery and even some famous monsters to most likely mess with the crowd who may or may not be enjoying themselves too much.

Here is his full Weekend 1 Setlist:
“Sorry”
“Insects” (Oingo Boingo)
Spider-Man Main Title”
“Nothing To Fear (But Fear Itself)” (Oingo Boingo)
“Just Another Day” (Oingo Boingo)

“Breakfast Machine” (from Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure)
“Kick Me”
“Insanity” (Oingo Boingo)
“The Batman Theme”
“True”
The Simpsons Main Title Theme”
“Only A Lad” (Oingo Boingo)

“Ice Dance / The Grand Finale” (from Edward Scissorhands)
“Dead Man’s Party” (Oingo Boingo)

Who knows what he has in store for weekend two.
