The FDA has approved booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12-15.

The agency also shortened the recommended timeframe for getting a booster to five months after the second shot, down from six months.

Children ages 5-11 who are immunocompromised are also approved for a booster shot.

The CDC will review the FDA’s decision before it takes effect.
