Health experts have been predicting that the Delta variant would soon become the dominant coronavirus strain in the U.S. – and that day has arrived than expected.
According to CDC data, the Delta variant now accounts for more than 51% of new COVID-19 cases in the U.S. That’s quite a change from just one month ago, when Delta accounted for just 3% of U.S. cases.
The highest infection rate is in the Midwest region of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska – where Delta accounts for a whopping 80.7% of cases.The Delta variant is more contagious and possibly more dangerous as well – especially for people who are unvaccinated.
Do we need to go back into ‘lockdown’? Would we even be able to convince people to start masking up again after we just started taking them off?
