Nick Bosa’s sophomore season is over. It ended abruptly on the turf field of MetLife Stadium in the first quarter of the 49ers’ 31-13 win over the New York Jets. Bosa’s left foot got caught in the ground as he was pushed back awkwardly in an extended block from Jets tight end Trevon Wesco. He immediately reached down holding his left knee.

Bosa was immediately carted off the field. Two plays later, Solomon Thomas went down in a heap, also needing a cart. The 49ers fear Thomas also suffered a torn ACL but are waiting on his MRI, which is delayed by a broken MRI truck the team had contracted to meet them at The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia.

This is the second time Bosa has torn an ACL, after suffering an ACL tear in his right knee at the end of his high school career. The injury will require season-ending surgery to repair. The 49ers have already signed Ziggy Ansah as a replacement, and may lean on Dion Jordan from the practice squad as well.
