Corey Taylor: ‘Chad Kroeger is to rock what KFC is to chicken’

Slipknot and Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor struck back at Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger in a recent interview with Seattle’s KISW 99.9 radio station at the Pain in the Grass event in Auburn, Washington.

In the interview, Taylor was asked about the current state of the frontman feud:

I don’t want to talk about that dickhead. Why do I give a shit about what Chad Kroeger says? Chad Kroeger is to rock what KFC is to chicken. Is that wrong? I feel like I’m not wrong.

Kroeger’s recent comments to Metal Covenant added to the fire, taking shots at Stone Sour and Slipknot, prompting Taylor’s response.

[Stone Sour] are trying to be Nickelback. Corey Taylor has said some really nasty things about me before in the press, and he talks about how easy it is to write a hit song. Well, show me! Write one. I’ve yet to hear one. They’re OK. They’re not as good as Nickelback. They sound like Nickelback-lite.

Kroeger went on to talk about Slipknot’s image and delivery on stage:

We were signed to the same label. They had to put on masks and jump around. How good can your music be if you’ve gotta beat each other up onstage, throw up into your own masks every night? Music shouldn’t come with a gimmick. Music should just be music. None of my favorite music comes with a gimmick. He got tired of sitting behind the mask. He wanted people to know what he looks like. He started Stone Sour.

Taylor responded to Kroeger’s claims that Slipknot’s performance is a “gimmick.”

“He’s so worried about people liking him,” Taylor told Tempe, Arizona’s 98 KUPD. “This is what I would say [to him]. You can run your mouth all you want. All I know is I’ve been voted ‘Sexiest Dude in Rock’ [while] wearing a mask. You’ve been voted ‘Ugliest Dude in Rock’ twice without one. Stick that up your ass.”

He also made it clear that his problem lies solely with Kroeger and not the rest of Nickelback.

I love all the dudes in that band … I love everybody else in that band, I’m very, very cool with [them], I’ve hung out with them. It’s just Face Like a Foot who I can’t really hang out with. He’s got a face like a foot! Am I wrong?
