It was 1 year ago today (January 18) that we lost Glenn Frey from multiple complications while he was trying to recover from gastrointestinal tract surgery.  He was only 67 years old.

Glenn was born in Detroit and would get one of his first profession breaks when, at the age of 19, he played acoustic guitar and provided background vocals to Bob Seger on “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”.  After moving to California he would meet Jackson Browne who, according to Frey, would teach him about songwriting.  When Frey met Don Henley in 1970, the pair would both become part of Linda Ronstadt’s backing band. Not long later, the duo would decide to form their own band and, well, the rest is history.

2016 was a year when we would lose too many artistic, athletic and other greats.  Today, we celebrate the memory of the great Glenn Frey.
