Marvel Studios presents Thor: Ragnarok.

Premise:

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok–the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization–at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger–the Incredible Hulk!

The cast is:

Chris Hemsworth as Thor

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Cate Blanchett as Hela

Idris Elba as Heimdall

Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie

Karl Urban as Skurge

Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk

Anthony Hopkins as Odin

Thor: Ragnarok is the third installment in the Thor solo movie franchise and at the same time, it’s the seventeenth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third Marvel Studios movie in 2017.

To sum it up, Thor: Ragnarok is a comedy about Ragnarok, in the comics is a reference to complete destruction to Thor’s home planet Asgard. With that premise in place, this movie has two different tones set in place.

Despite being the third Thor solo movie, I respected the fact that Marvel Studios did their best to refresh Thor’s character in the MCU. This movie had a lot more brighter colors, we see Thor get thrown onto a new planet and the introduction of new/interesting characters.

All my life, I have always been a big Hulk fan and loved seeing more of the Hulk in this movie. In the past, it was always Bruce Banner was the smart scientist and the Hulk was the big green monster that would smash everything in site without thinking twice. The Hulk’s storyline for decades was borrowing elements from Jekyll and Hyde/ In Thor: Ragnarok we actually got to see more of that internal conflict between the Banner and the Hulk. We see the Hulk evolved, a lot more screen time, he talks way more and I enjoyed the interactions between the Hulk and Thor.

explain how this movie is a comedy

Buddy cop movie

Very similar to Guardians

The MCU was trying to change things up

But i question if this comedic tone was appropriate for this character, felt out of place.

Ragnarok is a serious issue, therefore the comedy should have been scaled down.

This movie felt like a parody of Thor.

I wonder if they would have toned down planet hulk and more focus on Hela’s motvation

Once again the MCU doesn’t focus enough on the villian

Funny cameos

The movie was very fun.

Overall, excited to see what happens next in Avengers: Infinity War.

I would rate the film: 8/10

Go see Thor: Ragnarok when the movie hits theaters on Friday, November 3rd.
