In a recent interview with Sonic Perspectives’ Rodrigo Altaf, Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen discussed what it was like to tour alongside Mötley Crüe this past summer, nearly seven years after the Vince Neil-fronted band performed their last show.
“We thought they were done. Then we asked them to come out with us, and it didn’t take much persuasion to get them to get back out on the road,” said Allen.
He added that it was great to see the relationship mend between the band members.
The “The Stadium Tour,” which took place between June and September, was the biggest tour of either band’s career, with 1.3 million tickets sold and $173.5 million in revenue, according to Billboard.
Following the tour’s success, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe will extend their tour with more shows in the United States.
In a joint statement, Mötley Crüe said, “We had an incredible time playing ‘The Stadium Tour’ in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with ‘The World Tour’ in 2023. Crüeheads get ready because we have a few amazing U.S. dates set for you!”
Tickets to the general public will go on sale on Friday, December 16 at 10 am local time for all shows.
