Guns N’ Roses are planning to take a break from touring in 2027 to focus on creating new music, according to guitarist Slash. The legendary rock band still has 13 shows scheduled for the remainder of 2026, with performances planned across India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. Once those dates are completed, the group hopes to shift its attention toward organizing and developing material for a potential new album.
“We have so much material that we need to sort of, like, put together and start getting into that whole phase, so I’m hoping that’s what the next phase is gonna be,” Slash explained. The guitarist also acknowledged that collaborating on new music while touring can be difficult, noting that he enjoys writing on the road but his bandmates don’t necessarily share the same approach. “Writing on the road for me is easy, and I’m the only one that seems to like to sort of sit up all night and do that,” he added.
Guns N’ Roses haven’t released a full-length studio album since 2008’s Chinese Democracy, which featured Axl Rose as the only member of the band’s classic lineup. The current lineup includes Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Isaac Carpenter, and Melissa Reese. While Guns N’ Roses step away from touring, Slash is also expected to hit the road with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators in 2027. Although no release date has been announced, the band’s planned downtime could provide an opportunity to move forward with its long-awaited new material.
