Sammy Hagar performed the first of three Cabo Birthday Bash shows at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Hagar’s set included Montrose songs and only three Van Halen numbers: “Best of Both Worlds,” “Top of the World,” and “Poundcake.”
Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony did not participate in this year’s birthday bash as he was celebrating his wife’s birthday in Oregon.
Hagar expressed his desire to move on from being known as the “Van Halen guy” and play fewer Van Halen songs in future performances.
The setlist for the show included a mix of covers and original songs, with a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover of “Simple Man” making an appearance.
