Chasta and Baby Huey tapped in with Atreyu’s Brandon Saller backstage at Aftershock to reflect on the band’s journey as it approaches 30 years. Brandon opened up about Atreyu’s past hiatus and admitted there was a point when he didn’t know whether the band would return. Looking back, he believes the time apart was necessary, allowing the members to rediscover their appreciation for one another and return with a renewed excitement for making music together.
Brandon also discussed his evolution from drummer and vocalist to Atreyu’s frontman, the current resurgence of metalcore and why the band has been able to connect with audiences across metal, hardcore, Warped Tour and rock radio. He also talked about the new album “The End Is Not the End” and Atreyu’s decision to give “Her Portrait in Black” new life by re-recording the song and creating a new remix with Sullivan King and Vastive.
