Baby Huey caught up with Mark Vollelunga and Daniel Oliver of Nothing More backstage at Aftershock to talk about the band’s long history with the festival and the DIY creativity that has helped define their live shows. The two reflected on building elaborate stage contraptions like the Scorpion Tail, taking risks and learning early in their career that standing out meant investing in themselves, their songs and the live experience.
Nothing More also discussed their commitment to the full-album format and why they continue blending rock, metal, progressive and other influences into their sound. Rather than becoming a “cookie cutter band” or simply repeating themselves, Mark and Daniel explained that the different musical backgrounds of each member continue to shape the band’s evolution. They also reflected on music’s ability to bring people together and completely change someone’s day.
