Baby Huey caught up with Carla Harvey and Jewel Steele of The Violent Hour backstage at Aftershock to talk about the formation of the new all-female rock band and finding a renewed passion for making music. Carla revealed that she was questioning whether to continue making music when Charlie Benante encouraged her to keep going, leading the two to begin writing together and eventually helping spark what would become The Violent Hour.
Carla and Jewel also discussed the importance of inspiring women of all ages to pursue their goals, the meaning behind the band’s name and what’s coming next. The Violent Hour revealed that the new single “Already Dead” arrives October 8, with a full-length album planned for January. They also reflected on why music remains so powerful, with Jewel describing it as a form of therapy and Carla highlighting its ability to transport people back to moments and emotions from their lives.
