Slipknot have unleashed a surprise new single, “Arsenal,” marking several major firsts for the band as they enter their next chapter.
Frontman Corey Taylor premiered the track during an appearance on BBC Radio 1, describing “Arsenal” as an “absolutely a pummeling experience,” with moments of hyperactivity followed by dramatic shifts. Taylor also teased that Slipknot are incorporating elements fans haven’t heard from the band before.
“Arsenal” is Slipknot’s first release following the departure of longtime DJ Sid Wilson and their first full-fledged recording featuring drummer Eloy Casagrande. It also marks the band’s first release through its new (sic)est Records imprint.
Slipknot are currently working with producer Matt Wallace on material for their next studio album, although an album title and release date have not yet been announced.
The single also arrived with an official music video directed by M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan.
