Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, after more than five decades of friendship and musical exchange, have collaborated on their first studio album, “The Sea Of Emotion,” set to release on November 6, 2026.
The album’s creation was sparked by a gap in their schedules after a “G3” reunion tour, leading to the realization that they write music in completely different ways, which became a defining element of the record.
The album features a diverse range of tracks, from raw rock ‘n’ roll to darker, cinematic pieces, showcasing the unique blend of their individual voices and pushing each other to new creative heights.
The central three-part suite, “The Sea Of Emotion,” reflects on their shared history and musical journey, with a vintage reel-to-reel recording from one of Vai’s early lessons with Satriani, highlighting their growth and determination.
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, both renowned guitar virtuosos, have had successful solo careers and collaborations, with Satriani’s studio and live recordings selling over 10 million copies worldwide and Vai being considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, having sold over 15 million records and received three Grammy Awards.
