Journey are preparing for the final leg of what could be their farewell tour, with the run beginning in September and ultimately bringing the band home to San Francisco in November.
For co-founder and guitarist Neal Schon, finishing the tour in the Bay Area carries special meaning. “It’s where we started, and it’s always special,” Schon said of returning to the city where Journey formed more than five decades ago.
The band is scheduled to perform more than 100 concerts this year, delivering a career-spanning collection of classics including “Faithfully” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Schon says Journey’s music now reaches five generations of fans, highlighting the remarkable staying power of the band’s catalog.
While questions remain about whether this truly represents the end of the road for Journey, Schon remains optimistic about what could come next.
For Bay Area fans, however, the November finale promises to be particularly emotional: a legendary San Francisco band potentially closing its touring career right where the journey began.
