After more than three decades of making music, Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick is still finding new ways to connect with fans — and he says the future of pop punk has never looked brighter.
Reddick joined 107.7 The Bone’s Chasta and Baby Huey to discuss Bowling For Soup’s upcoming tour with Simple Plan and 3OH!3, the resurgence of pop punk, fatherhood, and the importance of staying authentic in today’s music world.
According to Reddick, the genre is experiencing a perfect storm as longtime fans introduce their kids to the songs they grew up with while new generations discover bands like Bowling For Soup, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, and more.
“It’s a good time to be in a pop punk band,” Reddick said.
Beyond the music, Reddick emphasized the importance of connecting directly with fans through social media and embracing new ways to share your personality.
For him, the secret has always been simple: take the music seriously, but never take yourself too seriously.
And after 32 years, Reddick still believes in the same thing that made fans fall in love with music in the first place — its ability to create memories.
“Music is magical,” he said. “You can taste it, see it, smell it, feel it.”
Catch Bowling For Soup with Simple Plan and 3OH!3 at the San Jose Civic on July 28.
