Metallica’s Kirk Hammett bought a guitar from Journey’s Neal Schon at an auction for $87,500 – but somehow felt he hadn’t paid enough for it.
Hammett offered to return the guitar, a 1957 Les Paul Standard, to Schon, feeling he should have paid a fair price, but Schon insisted he keep it.
The post-pandemic auction market was in flux, causing some items to sell for less than anticipated, including the guitar Hammett bought.
Metallica donated $100,000 to emergency operations in Venezuela through their All Within My Hands foundation to support humanitarian aid services.
Hammett praised Neal Schon as an inspiration, highlighting Schon’s commitment and dedication to music as qualities he admires and aspires to emulate.
