A new exhibit dedicated to the Grateful Dead, “Forever Grateful,” is set to open in San Francisco at the Haight Street Art Center, featuring over 400 pieces of artwork, instruments, and memorabilia celebrating the band’s legacy.
The exhibit includes a scaled-down, fully operational replica of the band’s Wall of Sound audio system, broadcasting live Grateful Dead recordings, and aims to celebrate the band’s spirit, artistry, and cultural influence.
Dennis McNally, exhibition adviser and Grateful Dead historian, states, “Forever Grateful celebrates the spirit, artistry, and cultural influence that made the Grateful Dead not just a band, but a phenomenon.”
Trixie Garcia, daughter of Jerry Garcia, expresses her family’s pleasure in the Grateful Dead exhibition, highlighting the band’s cultural impact and the unique essence of San Francisco and the Grateful Dead.
The exhibit’s opening weekend will feature a performance by Grahame Lesh & Friends on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT, and the exhibit will run at the Haight Street Art Center until Sept. 20, with a second exhibit, Forever Grateful, Golden Gate Park, opening on Sept. 5 at Hall of Flowers, Golden Gate Park.
