Trivium frontman Matt Heafy revealed that the band’s upcoming album, tentatively due in late 2026, will be their first to feature new drummer Alex Rüdinger, whom they tried to recruit 10 years ago.
Heafy described the new album as potentially their best, boasting, “We’re sitting on arguably our greatest album of all time.”
Trivium’s previous release, the “Struck Dead” EP, was initially intended to be part of a full record but evolved into a standalone project due to the band’s rapid growth and creative inspiration.
Bassist Paolo Gregoletto explained that the EP was a result of the band’s jam sessions during the 20th-anniversary tour of “Ascendancy” and the construction of their studio.
Guitarist Corey Beaulieu shared that the decision to release the EP was influenced by the desire to provide new music to fans during the “The Poisoned Ascendancy” tour and to experiment with a different release format.
