The film “Nimrods: A Green Day Comedy” follows a group of teens known as the “Anal O.G. Dogs” who land the opportunity to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve based on a demo tape.
Filmmaker Lee Kirk based the story on Green Day’s early days when they toured in a van before achieving worldwide fame with “Dookie.”
Billie Joe Armstrong described the film as capturing Green Day’s early experiences on the road with a DIY spirit, playing in unconventional venues and facing challenges like shows being shut down by the police.
The cast of the film includes Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Mckenna Grace, as well as appearances by Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool of Green Day, along with Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, and Fred Armisen.
