Guitarist John 5 addressed the controversial topic of Mötley Crüe’s alleged use of backing tracks in live shows.
Appearing on the ‘Thinking About Guitar’ podcast, he insisted that “everybody plays everything” and that “we work hard at it.”
However, John 5 admitted that some things, like backing vocals, are prerecorded: “Of course, there’s backups pumped in, there’s sirens pumped in, there is intros pumped in, but all the music that we’re playing is being performed by us.”
Former singer John Corabi acknowledged the use of backing tracks during his time with Mötley Crüe, but said the core instruments were played live.
Nikki Sixx dismisses claims that Mötley Crüe doesn’t play live, calling it “the silliest thing” and attributing it to clickbait media.
