Jordan Hewson, daughter of Bono, released a new single under the name Jordan Joy, describing it as “one for the kitchen party” and aiming to evoke the indie New York sound she has enjoyed.
The single, titled “Don’t Kill the Vibe,” received praise from various celebrities, including former Glamour editor Samantha Barry, REM frontman Michael Stipe, and actor Jessica Alba, who called it “divine” and “the song of the summer.”
Hewson’s track blends dream-pop, indie rock, and late-night synth influences, drawing inspiration from New Order, LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and poet Frank O’Hara.
Prior to this release, Hewson had previously released music under the name Tenderhooks and founded Speakable, a tech company focused on social activism, earning a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2019.
“Don’t Kill the Vibe” was co-produced by Catherine Marks and Jackson Phillips, with the single artwork credited to photographer Grace Burns, who is romantically linked to Hewson’s brother, Eli Hewson.
