The Associated Press has confirmed reports of Chester Bennington’s suicide July 20th at the age of 41. TMZ has learned that Bennington’s family was out of town and he was home alone when an employee found Chester upstairs.
Brian Elias, chief of operations for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner issued a statement to Rolling Stone regarding Bennington’s death.
Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, we were notified by law enforcement of a death in Palos Verdes Estates. We responded to the scene and unfortunately confirmed that Mr. Chester Bennington was deceased at the scene.
The New York Daily News obtained information on Friday morning that Bennington was found hanged between his bedroom and bathroom with a belt around his neck. Ed Winter, Asst. Chief of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office described the scene.
It was a door in the bedroom. There was a partially empty bottle of alcohol (in the room).
Although there was alcohol found at the scene, Winter couldn’t confirm if Bennington had consumed any and stated that autopsy results would be available in the coming days.
Cameron Strang, Warner Brothers Records CEO released a statement on the news.
Chester Bennington was an artist of extraordinary talent and charisma, and a human being with a huge heart and a caring soul.
