Aerosmith struggled to come up with new material for their third studio album, Toys in the Attic, until they found inspiration from a scene in Mel Brooks’s Young Frankenstein.
The band members were inspired by a scene in the movie where Marty Feldman tells Gene Wilder to “Walk this way,” leading them to adopt “Walk This Way” as a song title.
Steven Tyler wrote the lyrics for the song after the band decided on the title, which became a top-10 hit and one of the band’s most recognizable songs.
Tyler mentioned in his autobiography that the inspiration for “Walk This Way” came from watching The Three Stooges on TV, where they used a similar gag of walking in a funny way.
