Guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari discussed the making of Megadeth’s final album, describing the 10-month studio process as intense yet enjoyable.
The songs on the album came together spontaneously through improvised jams, and Mäntysaari says frontman Dave Mustaine sought input from the rest of the band: “all the bandmembers got involved quite heavily, so that was really nice to have everybody’s contribution included.”
Teemu says he aimed to create something fresh and new for the album while incorporating the band’s current sound and influences from Megadeth’s classic eras.
Released in January, “Megadeth” debuted at the top of the U.S. album chart, driven by 73,000 equivalent album units.
