Stevie Nicks considers her reworked version of the 200-year-old Christmas carol “Silent Night” as one of her favorite career moments, stating that she wrote the bridge in the middle of the song to make it more compassionate.
Nicks performed her version of “Silent Night” on the English music show Top of the Pops in 1987 alongside pop singer Robbie Nevil as part of the show’s Christmas special.
The original “Silent Night” was written in 1818 and has been known as a universal message of hope, peace, and love ever since its creation.
Nicks has performed “Silent Night” multiple times, including on the charity album A Very Special Christmas in 1987 and with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for the 2000 program A Very Special Christmas from Washington DC.
Nicks fondly recalls magical Christmas memories from her childhood, including a special moment with her father who assembled a baby blue buggy for her on Christmas Eve after a conversation with Santa.
