Jim Carrey praised Soundgarden as “one of the most majestic, powerful and influential bands” during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Carrey recalled hosting a Saturday Night Live episode in May 1996 with Soundgarden as the musical guest, describing the experience as an “audio baptism”.
Carrey highlighted late lead singer Chris Cornell’s authentic presence: “When you looked into his eyes it was like eternity was staring back.”
The surviving members of Soundgarden performed “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun”, joined by Seattle greats like Mike McCready, Jerry Cantrell, and Brandi Carlile.
