Memorabilia and wardrobe from the movie Purple Rain was scheduled to go up for auction, before the death of Prince in April.
Both of the main items—the ruffled, ivory silk shirt and black-and-white blazer he wore in Purple Rain—had asking prices below $10,000. In the auction this week, held by California’s Profiles in History auction house, they sold for $96,000 each, the Guardian reports. Other items sold included: a pair of knee-high, high-heeled boots from the 1988 Lovesexy tour ($17,920); a necklace from the “Diamonds and Pearls” video ($8,320); and another white shirt from the Purple Rain tour ($32,000).
