Journey celebrated its 50th anniversary with the return of a founding member this week.

Original keyboardist Gregg Rolie joined the band on stage during Wednesday night’s show in Austin, TX.

Rolie helped out on tracks like “Just The Same Way” and “Feeling That Way”, as well as a cover “Black Magic Woman” by Santana – another band Rolle was a part of.

In case you’ve been living under a rock the band’s 50th anniversary has been surrounded by drama.

To catch you up: guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain are currently engaged in a legal battle over money.

In January, Schon announced that original keyboardist Gregg Rolie would be joining the band’s upcoming tour. THEN, Cain made a post telling fans he was very much still a part of the band and would be hitting the road in late January.

Still with us? Schon then backtracked about Rolie joining the tour – promising to “shed some real light on the subject” very soon. All that brings us to Schon tweeting “This is going out to all media of all your postings today that Gregg Rolie is out. FALSE – where would you get this information? Ex managers? PR stunt again.”

Thankfully, as Schon explained, the rumors were false and Rolie was able to return for the monumental journey.
