Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash had something extra to celebrate over July 4th weekend – 15 years of sobriety. His girlfriend Meegan Hodges marked the occasion on Instagram, writing “I am so very proud of you every day, but today I am so very extra proud of you”.

Slash admits he was “drinking myself to death” after GN’R broke up in the 90’s, leading to congestive heart failure in 2001.  He first checked into rehab on July 3rd, 2006, and has been sober ever since.

Do you know anyone who was able to turn their live around after struggling with addiction?  What are some of the challenges we might not see?
