Paul McCartney nearly made an appearance on Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon but was ultimately cut for not taking the project seriously.
Roger Waters found McCartney’s performance unnecessary and not in line with what the band wanted for the album.
Despite not being on The Dark Side of the Moon, McCartney collaborated with David Gilmour on his solo album and performed with him at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.
McCartney praised Gilmour’s guitar solo on the song “No More Lonely Nights” and highlighted his signature Fender Stratocaster sound.
An orchestral version of The Beatles’ “Ticket to Ride” can be heard in a snippet towards the end of “Eclipse” on The Dark Side of the Moon.
