While most musicians say their most recent album is their best yet, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has upped the ante on the claim: He says his upcoming solo album, Luck and Strange, represents his best work since he recorded the classic Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon.
“It’s over 50 years now since The Dark Side of the Moon,” Gilmour says. “My feeling is that this album is the best album I’ve made in all those years since 1973 when The Dark Side of the Moon came out.” That means Gilmour believes Luck and Strange is better than such critically-praised Pink Floyd albums as 1977’s Animals and 1979’s The Wall.
Luck and Strange, Gilmour’s first album in almost a decade, is due September 6th.
