Iron Maiden are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their legendary 1986 album Somewhere in Time with an ambitious new graphic novel, Somewhere in Time: The Graphic Album, scheduled for release on March 2, 2027. The project brings the album’s futuristic world to life through eight individual stories inspired by each track, along with a prologue and epilogue exploring the record’s iconic cover artwork. Guitarist Adrian Smith has expressed his admiration for the album’s version of Eddie, the band’s legendary mascot, highlighting his powerful and menacing appearance.
The graphic novel will also feature an in-depth interview with Smith reflecting on the creation of Somewhere in Time, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at one of Iron Maiden’s most celebrated releases. Multiple collectible editions are planned, including deluxe packages featuring exclusive vinyl singles. With classics like “Wasted Years,” “Stranger in a Strange Land,” and “Heaven Can Wait,” the album remains a fan favorite four decades later, and the new release offers another way to experience its music and artwork.
