Eddie Vedder made a surprise appearance during Steven Wilson Jr.’s set at Ohana Fest, performing the Temple of the Dog song “Hunger Strike,” which Vedder co-fronted with the late Chris Cornell.
Wilson Jr. expressed his excitement during the performance, exclaiming, “Thank you, Temple Of The Dog! What the hell just happened?” highlighting the significance of the moment for both him and the audience.
The formation of Temple Of The Dog was a tribute to late Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood, with Cornell initially writing two songs that led to the creation of a full album after collaborating with members from Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.
The song “Hunger Strike” was born out of Cornell’s desire to have an even number of tracks on the album, showcasing how a simple preference led to the creation of a classic.
Wilson Jr. is currently on tour in Europe and has upcoming US dates scheduled for November and December, culminating in a New Year’s Eve performance at the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, OK.
