Tony Iommi confirmed his collaboration with William Shatner on the actor’s surprise metal album, stating, “When he sent me the track, the idea of the track, I really liked it,” and noted that the album is expected to be released at the end of this year or early next year.
Shatner described his upcoming album, “What The F Is Heavy Metal?”, explaining that the title originated from his reaction to Cleopatra Records suggesting the project.
Shatner performed several songs from the album at Riot Fest, including covers of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train,” and expressed his excitement about the performance, stating, “It was a huge success. Huge.”
Shatner shared his unique interpretation of classic songs, particularly “Enter Sandman,” explaining, “If you were an actor, as I am, you’re looking at the words you’ve gotta say,” and he reinterpreted the lyrics to reflect a darker narrative.
Reflecting on his approach to heavy metal, Shatner admitted, “You gotta start with the premise that I really know nothing,” emphasizing his inquisitive nature and desire to explore the emotional depth of the genre.
