Slayer celebrated the 40th anniversary of their iconic album “Reign In Blood” with a full performance of the LP at Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City, supported by Power Trip.
The setlist included classic tracks such as “Angel Of Death” and “Raining Blood,” showcasing the band’s enduring legacy in thrash metal.
Guitarist Jeff Hanneman reflected on the controversy surrounding “Angel Of Death,” stating, “It’s a documentary! There’s no ‘Heil Hitler’ or ‘white people rule,’ it’s a documentary; grow up, people,” emphasizing the band’s intent to address historical subjects rather than promote any ideology.
Tom Araya noted the significance of the album’s production, saying, “Rubin made sure that he recorded. He wanted to duplicate what he was hearing,” highlighting the evolution of SLAYER’s sound during this collaboration.
Dave Lombardo described “Reign In Blood” as a “masterpiece” that will “stand the test of time,” asserting its place as “the epitome of thrash music and part of a historic time in music history.”
