Rock legend Sammy Hagar is taking a step back from touring and new projects as he considers the next chapter of his career. In a recent interview with Billboard, the former Van Halen frontman revealed that he has turned down offers for next year, choosing instead to reassess his priorities and explore opportunities to make an impact beyond music. Hagar also expressed a desire to celebrate more of his musical history, including his work with Montrose and Chickenfoot, rather than focusing primarily on his Van Halen legacy.
The decision follows the conclusion of Hagar’s Best of All Worlds touring concept, which featured bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, and drummer Kenny Aronoff. Hagar recently celebrated his 79th birthday with three performances at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico, highlighting songs from his Montrose years. While he hasn’t announced a permanent retirement from performing, the Red Rocker appears ready to slow down, reflect on his decades-long career, and explore what comes next.
