Mick Mars discussed finishing his new solo album and emphasized his desire for it to sound different from Mötley Crüe.
Mars opened up about his battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and described the condition as a heavy burden, comparing it to a 40-pound cinder block chained to his head.
The new album showcases a heavier side of Mars’s playing, with producer Chris Collier’s involvement hinting at a departure from his previous work.
Mars faced legal battles with Mötley Crüe, resulting in his departure from the band’s 2022 U.S. stadium tour due to health issues and a subsequent arbitration ruling against him.
Despite the challenges, Mars sees the new album as an opportunity to showcase his musical abilities outside the context of Mötley Crüe and emphasizes that emulating the band’s sound was never his intention.
