Backstage at Aftershock Festival, CKY drummer Jess Margera sat down with 107.7 The Bone’s Chasta and Baby Huey for a nostalgic trip through one of the most influential eras in rock and alternative culture.
Margera reflects on CKY’s connection to skate culture, Jackass and MTV, and what it was like to become an early form of “viral” entertainment before YouTube and social media existed. He also shares an update on his brother Bam Margera, who has returned to skating, and talks about the enduring love fans have for the Margera family.
The conversation eventually turns to AI and the future of music. For Margera, the appeal of music is its humanity — the imperfections, mistakes and emotion that technology can’t replicate.
And when asked what music means to him, his answer is brutally honest: “I’d be dead without it probably by now.”
