Baby Huey caught up with Tyler Connolly and Joey Dandeneau of Theory of a Deadman backstage at Aftershock to talk about the band’s new “Funeral Songs Part 1” EP and their journey after more than 20 years together. The band explained why they chose to release six-song EPs rather than a traditional 12-song album, with another installment planned as they continue recording new material.
Tyler and Joey also reflected on how the music industry has changed since Theory of a Deadman’s early years. While they appreciate that bands and fans now have more direct control, they admitted they miss the days of visiting terrestrial radio stations in every city while on tour. The conversation also touched on touring with Sevendust, staying healthy on the road, the evolution of rock culture and why getting to remain both musicians and music fans still feels like a dream come true.
