Eddie Vedder collaborated with the Obama Foundation and Guitars Over Guns to create the song “Better Believe” for the dedication of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
The collaboration involved artists and students connected to Guitars Over Guns, emphasizing the impact of providing resources to communities. Rapper Myskie stated, “It takes nothing to help and to just be useful to a community. It changes people’s lives. It changes the world.”
The behind-the-scenes video showcases the process of creating the song, featuring sessions at Columbia College Chicago where Audio Arts students and Guitars Over Guns musicians worked together. The collaboration was facilitated by Andre “Add-2” Daniels.
“Better Believe” was co-written by Vedder and several others, with production from Andrew Watt, Daniels, Paul LaMalfa, and Vedder. All royalties earned will benefit Guitars Over Guns.
Vedder expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform at the Obama Presidential Center dedication, highlighting the values of inclusivity, access to resources, mentorship, and opportunity that the center represents.
