Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi confirms that the band’s early recordings as Earth will eventually be released, stating, “It will come out at some point.”
“Earth: The Legendary Lost Tapes” was initially scheduled for release in July 2025 until Sharon Osbourne intervened on behalf of the band.
The recordings from 1969 were described by the band’s former manager Jim Simpson as showcasing the band’s musical talent and evolution.
Sharon Osbourne blocked the release of the album, citing the band’s opposition and their rights, but later returned the tapes to the group.
Tony Iommi expressed his excitement about the unearthed demos, mentioning the forgotten jazzy and bluesy elements, and confirmed his upcoming solo album release in October.
