Metallica recently finished a tour in Ireland, but they didn’t leave the Emerald Isle without paying homage to Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott, who was laid to rest in Ireland in 1986.
The band stopped by Lynott’s grave after performing at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
Thin Lizzy is recognized as an unsung hero in rock history, with their explosive live sound and songwriting being revolutionary and representative of the best of ’70s rock.
Metallica’s James Hetfield has been open about his love for Lynott’s music, and the band’s cover of the traditional Irish song “Whiskey In The Jar” is based on Thin Lizzy’s version.
