The Darkness will be playing at Knebworth Park in England with Iron Maiden, The Hu, Airbourne, and The Almighty on July 11.
Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins expressed excitement about the gig and gushed about Iron Maiden’s significance and outsider status in music, admiring the way the band “never made music that’s designed to [get on] the charts in any way.”
He mentioned a mutual friendship with members of Iron Maiden and joked about sharing guitar techs with them: “We always have brilliant guitar techs, and they always nick ’em off us. So we’re like a feeder club for Iron Maiden’s techs.”
The Darkness will embark on their largest headline tour in 20 years in December, and released the theme song for the “Masters Of The Universe” movie last month.
