Kirk Hammett’s songwriting ideas for Metallica often get rejected, with him admitting, “I’m always trying to sneak in jazz voicings and chords, little techniques here and there in Metallica.”
Hammett expressed frustration that what he does in Metallica doesn’t fully represent his musical abilities, saying, “I can play a lot of different stuff… But no one knows I can play this stuff.”
Despite not having a writing credit on Metallica’s last album, Hammett confirmed he has a “ton of material” ready for the band’s next project, attributing his lack of credits to losing his iPhone containing 250 musical ideas.
Hammett will be showcasing his extensive collection of horror memorabilia in an exhibit titled “It’s Alive! Classic Horror And Sci-Fi Art From The Kirk Hammett Collection” at the Columbia Museum of Art in South Carolina.
