“The Way Things Were” is an emotionally charged reminiscence in the vein of classics like “Story of My Life” and “I Was Wrong,” featuring lyrics like “I wrote a song with a stolen riff / If you ain’t got a song you ain’t got shit.”
The album ‘Born To Kill’ is described as a revelation, with 11 songs of pure, unadulterated rock fury, joy, and catharsis, embodying the signature blend of defiance and world-weariness that has made Mike Ness a poet and sage for over 40 years.
The title track of ‘Born To Kill’ pays homage to Lou Reed, Iggy and The Stooges, and David Bowie, showcasing the band’s influences while creating timeless anthems and ballads that celebrate their storied past.
The album was co-produced by Ness and Dave Sardy, features guest appearances from Benmont Tench and Lucinda Williams, and boasts collaborative cover art by Ness and Shepard Fairey.
