Axl Rose promised Dizzy Reed a position in Guns N’ Roses before the band was signed, and he fulfilled that promise in 1990.
Reed first met the band in 1985 and impressed Rose with his keyboard skills, leading to the promise of joining the band in the future.
Reed expressed gratitude for Rose keeping his word, as promises in Hollywood are often not fulfilled.
Rose contacted Reed to record “Civil War” and subsequent tracks, solidifying Reed’s position as the longest-standing member of Guns N’ Roses.
Reed remained with the band through lineup changes, the recording of “Chinese Democracy,” and the return of Slash and Duff McKagan in 2016.
