Dash Crofts, one half of the beloved soft rock duo Seals & Crofts, has passed away at the age of 85.
An agent for his daughter confirmed the news, sharing that Crofts’ family — including Lua Crofts Faragher and Brady Seals — are mourning the loss of the legendary musician. Producer Louie Shelton, who worked closely with the duo, also paid tribute, remembering Crofts as both a musical partner and dear friend.
Formed in 1969, Seals & Crofts became one of the defining acts of the soft rock era, delivering timeless hits like Summer Breeze and Diamond Girl, both of which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their smooth harmonies and laid-back California sound helped shape a generation of music in the 1970s.
Crofts’ legacy continues through Seals & Crofts 2, where his daughter Lua and Brady Seals carry on the spirit of the music, introducing it to new audiences while honoring its roots.
Dash Crofts leaves behind a lasting imprint on soft rock — a sound that continues to echo through decades of listeners.
