Eddie Vedder initially struggled with performing solo, until he got some advice from none other than Bruce Springsteen.
Springsteen told the Pearl Jam singer that playing solo was “terrifying” but that vulnerability can a “force” to harness.
Vedder described Springsteen’s advice as a “North Star” that stuck with him and guided his approach to solo performances.
Nearly two decades later, Vedder embraced vulnerability and performed two sold-out solo shows at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in October 2023 – which he described as “almost having a psychedelic experience.”
